Sustainability plans are agendas for sustainability action developed by communities themselves through community discussion-based workshops. Community members get together at these workshops to identify sustainability issues and solutions. These discussions are synthesized into official “Community Sustainability Plans.”
CSPs are a very important tool to motivate communities and improve their overall sustainability, which then leads to greater sustainability successes for the municipality as a whole now and into the future. Sustainability planning at the community level allows individual neighbourhoods to address specific sustainability issues that they face, helps empower communities and gives them clear authority to influence initiatives and outcomes.
