Waste Management’s landfill gas-to-energy generating plant turns methane gas into renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing electricity to consumers at the same time.
This facility consisting of five engines powered by gas from the existing landfill site and in turn generates approximately 6.4 megawatts of electricity into the Ottawa grid. This amount of electricity allows hydro to service approximately 6,400 homes a year.
