Experience Your #WinterCapital – Expanded Winter Trail Network

Experience Your #WinterCapital - Expanded Winter Trail Network

(Theme 8 – Health, Theme 9 – Recreation)

Organization: National Capital Commission (NCC)

Timeline for Completion: Ongoing Seasonal

Objective:

Keep active this winter with an expanded trail network, interactive map and personal challenge! In Canada’s Capital, we don’t just endure winter — we embrace it! Blanketed with a fresh layer of snow, Ottawa–Gatineau’s vast network of parks and trails becomes a winter wonderland.

In partnership with the Urban Winter Trails Alliance, the NCC is adding close to 50 percent more accessible winter trail space (in terms of length and width) to the Ottawa area, as part of a pilot project. These include:
SJAM Winter Trail, 18 km
Orleans Ski Club, 19 km + 1 km (City of Ottawa land)
Kanata Nordic Ski Club, 8 km
Rideau Winter Trail, 9 km
Britannia Winter Trail Association, 4 km + 4 km (City of Ottawa land)
Ski Heritage East, 10 km + 7 km (City of Ottawa land)

Beyond Gatineau Park in the Outaouais region, residents can also enjoy free access to a trail network from Leamy Lake to Gatineau Park, through a partnership with the Ville de Gatineau and the Centre de plein air du Lac-Leamy.
