Lowertown Community Sustainability Plan
August 13 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This year, OBEC is concentrating its efforts in building more Community Sustainability Plans across Ottawa – one has already been developed earlier this summer for West Carleton and for the next we will be hosting and facilitating Community Sustainability Discussions in Ottawa’s Lowertown Community this August 13th, 2019.
OBEC’s goal is to encourage engagement and cooperation in sustainability in communities all across Ottawa and from these discussions come up with a Community Sustainability Plan (CSP) that will engage residents to start their own sustainability projects.
This is an opportunity for Lowertown residents to get together and discuss key sustainability issues and sustainability projects to implement in their community.
The event will start with an educational workshop on OBEC’S 10 sustainability themes (food, transport, waste, energy, habitat, natural capital, design, health, recreation and sense of place) and then move on to an interactive piece where OBEC will facilitate the discussions led by the community. From these discussions, we are hoping to identify leaders and volunteers who will contribute to the fruition of these projects.
Feel free to browse our website here to explore our work, community sustainability plans and our database of sustainability projects for more information and join us the evening of Tuesday, August 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Jules Morin Community Fieldhouse to get this great initiative going!
Please register for the event here.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
We look forward to seeing you!
