Community Sustainability Plans are a very important tool to motivate communities and improve their overall sustainability, which then leads to greater sustainability successes for the municipality as a whole. Sustainability planning at the community level allows individual neighbourhoods to address specific sustainability issues that they face, helps empower communities and gives them clear authority to influence initiatives and outcomes. Currently OBEC has completed 6 CSPs across Ottawa and we are constantly expanding and facilitating more CSP workshops.
The Tuesday Tree Talk Series is a space of knowledge-sharing and gratitude at local green spaces in Ottawa where we discuss various sustainability themes and subjects in an encouraging and positive light. This is an opportunity to connect with the community, local flora and fauna, and have an open floor, educational discussion on environmental sustainability.
A key part of OBEC’s mission is to work with stakeholders and partners to share ideas, knowledge and experience. We pride ourselves on our meaningful partnerships that help us create sustainability programs and events for all of Ottawa. We are currently working with two organizations in Ottawa on various different projects.
